The Southwest Washington Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce the official launch of our new look! Thanks to our incredible partners at Riff Creative Studios, our team has developed fresh branding that reflects how our identity is creatively engaged with the community, and part of the community. Despite the challenges of this past year, we are closer than ever to achieving our mission to build a destination that will enrich and inspire the Pacific Northwest through a diverse range of artistic, cultural, and educational experiences. ARTS | Arts Alive Event
Be sure to mark your calendar for the first ever Arts Alive! event on September 18, from 12-4PM. Designed to reconnect community with the local arts organizations of Southwest Washington, this event will be located at the Public Service Center Plaza downtown, and will include informational booths from local groups in a festive atmosphere of live music, dance, poetry, and performance.
MUSIC | Vancouver Symphony Gala
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to present a truly unique fundraising gala in extraordinary times combining in-person festivities and a virtual live-streamed music celebration. This event will explore themes of collective resilience during the global Covid-19 pandemic as well as the resiliency of music. Mark your calendars for September 17, 2021 and join the symphony for a day of incredible live performances.
THEATRE | Much Ado About Nothing
Magenta Theater is coming back live and in person with a brand new season! From the director who brought you Steampunk Romeo & Juliet in 2014 comes one of Shakespeare’s best comedies set in 1940’s war-torn England. This adaptation takes the characters and moment everyone enjoys and transports audiences to a different period in time. Showing September 10-26!
DANCE | RPA’s Open Fall Registration
Riverside Performing Arts is now registering for Fall, with classes beginning on September 8th! Choose for a wide variety of dance programs, including Mini Ballet and Recreational and Focus Hip Hop, Adult Classes, Ballet, Tap & Jazz, Acro Dance, as well as Acting, Musical Theatre, and Contemporary.
COMMUNITY | Friday Night Movies in the Park
Two showings left for Vancouver Parks and Recreation’s Free Friday Night Movies in the Parks! In addition, the City is introducing weekly free Party in the Parks neighborhood events this year, featuring music, games and crafts for the whole family. PUBLIC ART | Crack Art in Vancouver
VDA is working on a variety of art projects to keep our downtown community vibrant. Thanks to a grant received from Divine Consign Furniture, VDA is partnering with the Public Art Committee on public art projects created to enhance cracked surfaces. 7 locations are currently in process in the downtown area!

YOUTH | Poetry Out Loud for Teens
Poetry Out Loud is for students in grades 9-12. It is part of a national arts education program that builds on elements of slam poetry and spoken word to engage students with the power of literature. The program is a partnership between the NEA and The Poetry Foundation, coordinated by ArtsWA.
