Vancouver Symphony Orchestra 2022 Gala

The VSO’s 2022 Gala begins Friday, September 16th at The Hilton Hotel in Vancouver. Proceeds raised at this event will support the VSO’s artistic programming and ensure that educational outreach impacts generations to come. The VSO’s mission is contribute to the artistic vibrancy of the Vancouver community, making this region an inspiring place to live and visit. All funds raised directly impact this organization. This year’s event will be hosted by award-winning actor and musician Lawrence Gilliard Jr. A graduate of The Juilliard School, Gilliard has been seen in television series such as The Wire and The Walking Dead.

Passion and fire--virtuoso guitar music in the Romani (Gypsy), Jewish, and Eastern European traditions. ZINGARESCA ENSEMBLE is a product of collaboration between the celebrated Roma (Gypsy) virtuoso Vadim Kolpakov, the pioneer in the revival of the seven-string guitar Oleg Timofeyev, and the Juilliard-trained baritone Anton Belov. The Italian word “Zingaresca” means “in a Gypsy style." The ensemble interweaves classical Eastern European guitar heritage with the best traditions of the Romani and Jewish diaspora, thus blending the sophistication of classical music with the fiery vitality of folk musical expression. Internationally renowned pianist Michelle Cann is coming to Skyview Concert Hall to perform Gershwin's unforgettable "Rhapsody in Blue" under the baton of Maestro Brotons September 24-25. Ms. Cann studied at both the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music. A champion of the music of Florence Price, Ms. Cann performed the New York City premiere of the composer’s Piano Concerto in One Movement with The Dream Unfinished Orchestra in July 2016 and the Philadelphia premiere with The Philadelphia Orchestra in February 2021, which the Philadelphia Inquirer called “exquisite.” Skyview Concert Hall 1300 NW 139th Street Vancouver Saturday, September 24 at 7 PM Sunday, September 25 at 3 PM
