Friends Of Fort Vancouver To Host Hangar Dance Fundraiser

Kiss

Friends and Artists,

Friends of Fort Vancouver will once again be hosting a vintage-themed dance at the historic hangar at Pearson Airfield.

Previously known as "The Sweetheart Dance," this major fundraiser for the non-profit organization has traditionally been hosted on Valentine's Day. The surge of the Omicron-variant, however, led to the postponement of the dance this year. The event is rescheduled for Saturday, July 2nd, at 7 PM.

Guests of the event are encouraged to don period 1930s or 40s attire, or Class-A uniforms, though not required. Historically appropriate music will be provided by the VanPort Jazz Band, a regional ensemble that will present the greatest hits of the late 1930s and 40s under the direction of Cary Pederson.

Doors open at 6:15 PM, with a free dance lesson at 6:30. The band will strike up at 7 PM.

Guests wishing to make an entire evening of the event will have options from food trucks on site. A no-host bar will make beer and wine available for purchase.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will supplement the operational expenses of Friends of Fort Vancouver. The organization was established in 2014 to assist the National Park Service by encouraging cultural awareness at the site as well as programming events that make use of the historic facility serving over a million and a half visitors every year. More information about the organization may be found by visiting its website.

Tickets for the dance are on sale now and available here. This event has a history of selling out, and those wishing to participate are encouraged to purchase tickets early.
