Jonathan Thomson
Jonathan Thomson, CFP®, CSRIC®, is a Financial Advisor, Certified Financial Planner, and Chartered SRI Counselor with First Pacific Financial, Inc. He also holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts. Jonathan’s background as a professional cellist and professor informs his approach to financial planning. He was active performing and recording in Southern California for fourteen years, and he has performed internationally in England, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, South Korea and China. As a chamber musician, Jonathan has competed at the Fischoff and Coleman competitions, and received guidance from the Kronos, St. Lawrence, Brentano, Lafayette, and Penderecki quartets. Jonathan taught at APU and was a Teaching Fellow in the top-rated Musicology Department at UCLA. These experiences in music, along with playing youth sports, led to a fascination with performance psychology– specifically how musicians, athletes, and business people structure their lives to achieve excellence. To this end, he wrote his doctoral dissertation to explore how marathon training can inform better musical preparation and teaching methods.
